Album: Something to Say

Good as Gold

Words and music by Mark Bertini

When I was a younger girl I always broke the rules. I didn’t listen to what they
Said and it drove em’ crazy too.
I’d laugh and dance and sing my song, rock the night away, fall in love with some blue
jean boy and he’d spend my well earned pay.

Now there’s no need for me to settle down I’m happy who I am. I’ve traveled
Far and I’ve made some friends and I’d do it all again.
So when the judgement day comes down I hope the kind Lord will see that
My heart is Good as Gold…well as good as it can be!

I remember when I’d lay on my back next to the railroad track passing the days listening
trains wantin’ to never go back.
Now I’ve always been a simple girl with a romantic look at life but the mistrust of the
ones you love can cut you like a knife.

I’ve seen love both come and go and was happy when it stayed but I haven’t found my
Mrs. Right that’s a small price to pay.
For the love a good man gave can't be bought or given free that’s why
My heart is Good as Gold…well as good as it can be!

Some like it hot and Some like it cold. Some choose silver Others choose gold
When I say black you’d say white and then you tell me I’m wrong when I know I’m right

So if you want to live a happy life you got to set your spirit free, take chances on what
you feel & persist constantly.
There is a child in everyone of us, an innocence to be found. Keep alive that wonder and
the riches will soon be crowned.

Now I am not the one to preach or judge that’s not my job to do. I’ll just keep on doing
my thing and hope so will you.
So when the judgment day comes down I hope the kind Lord will see that
My heart is Good as Gold…well as good as it can be!
That my heart is Good as Gold…well as good as it can be!
goooood as iiiiiit…..can be!
